ENVIRONMENTAL progress in oil and petrochemicals industries will come under the spotlight at a four-day international conference in Bahrain next year.
The Sixth Specialty Conference on Environmental Progress in the Oil and Petrochemical Industries (Enviro- Arabia) will be held from April 4 at Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gulf Hotel. ‘Driving Environmental Progress in Challenging Times’ is the theme. It is being organised by Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), in association with Environmental Technology and Management Association, Saudi Arabian Section of Air and Waste Management Association and Saudi Arabian Water Environment Association and will be held under the patronage of Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and National Oil and Gas Authority chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza. Speakers from 30 countries will present about 100 technical papers. Poster papers will also be presented during sessions on air quality and control, hazardous waste, pollution prevention, groundwater, marine environment and environmental monitoring.
Other topics include environmental impact assessments, audits and compliance, environmental laws and regulations, climate change, sustainable development and biodiversity. An exhibition will showcase latest technical industrial products related to environment. Six workshops are planned alongside the conference, with details to be announced soon. More than 500 engineers and environmental specialists from GCC, Middle East, Europe, Asia, US and the Far East are expected to attend.
Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife directorgeneral Dr Adel Al Zayani discussed preparations in a meeting with BSE president Abdul Majeed Al Gassab and conference organizing committee members Jameel Al Alawi, Rehan Ahmed and Suzan Al Ajjawi.
